Must-Have Baby Items

When I was pregnant and making our baby registry, I looked up reviews on different products, as well as read many "must have" lists from bloggers. So I thought it may be helpful to post a must have list of items we have and love. If you have questions at all about anything baby/pregnancy/birth/nursing/formula please comment. Also, if you have any must have baby/toddler products that you love please share in the comments. I would love to know what works best for you and your family!

WubbaNub Infant Pacifier: This is the only pacifier Gracie will take. She loves to cuddle the stuffed animal on the end. We have the giraffe and the pink bear. It washes well in the dishwasher. I recommend this as a baby shower gift! We initially received it at our baby shower.

HALO SleepSack Swaddle: The hospital sent us home with a HALO SleepSack Swaddle We also got a few at showers, and once we realized how much we liked them we bought a few more. For the first two months she slept in this swaddled. She now likes her arms out, so we just use the sleep sacks without swaddle. Using these "wearable blankets" instead of loose blankets is much safer for babies of all ages and reduces the risk of SIDS. Gracie will be using these as long as she can fit into the size range.

HALO SleepSack: This is what Gracie sleeps in every night now. The zipper is at the bottom in order to make diaper changes easier in the middle of the night. They do not have velcro, so washing with other clothes is less dangerous (ruined a perfectly good sweater dress...).

Fisher-Price Rock 'n' Play: I bought this used from a friend. We use it for naps because I can move it from room to room easily while I am getting things done (precious nap time!). Gracie also slept in this at night for a while when her reflux was bothering her. I felt more comfortable with her sitting up slightly when asleep so that she was less likely to choke.

Owlet Baby Care Monitor: This was a splurge for us. However, I am so glad we purchased it! It helps me sleep better at night. I know it is not 100%, but it eases my worries, and it makes my nurse heart happy! She is now sleeping in her own room and we use this and a sound monitor. It is a sock that goes on your baby's foot and monitors his or her heart rate and oxygen level. Just like in the hospital! It connects to a base that alerts when the rates are "out of range" as well as an app on your phone.

Soma Nursing Bras: I had trouble finding nursing bras that were supportive. I finally found these and they are the best! I decided to use the underwire ones! They worked wonderfully while I nursed 2 1/2 months, and I am actually still wearing them now. I know they have a large size range as well. If they are not available in store, ask them to order for you and you will get free shipping! Also sign up for their email list so that you will have a coupon to use.

Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Bottles: We tried many different bottles once we were not breastfeeding, and we finally settled on these. I like that they are easy to clean, with only 3 parts. Gracie likes them best also. Sippy cup lids and handles can also be purchased to attach to these bottles. We use them with the Tommee Tippee Formula Dispensers

Ju-Ju-Be B.F.F. Diaper Bag: This diaper bag is absolutely wonderful! It wipes off and can be put in the washing machine. I also like that it is not too girly, so Steven feels comfortable carrying it. It is backpack style, and in my opinion that is the way to go!

Baby Jogger City Select Stroller: We decided to get a stroller that will grow with our family (not that our family is growing anytime soon!). This stroller pushes so easily, and is no trouble at all for me to get in and out of the car. The carseat attaches to it, as well as extra seats, and a bassinet. We have used this for nightly walks, vacation at the beach, amusement parks, and just normal trips to the mall and grocery store. I am so glad we splurged on this!

Tula Ergonomic Carrier: We used this carrier for the first time at the beach while on vacation. Gracie falls asleep everytime we use it! This carrier seriously makes life so much easier. I also like that I can quickly snap it on with no wrapping or tying. We use it with the Infant Insert.

Keekaroo Peanut Changer: This changing pad was also a splurge. I love it because I can easily wipe it down if Gracie decides to go during a change or it gets especially messy! No washing covers or trying to get stains out. We have the color 'vanilla'.

Dekor Plus Diaper PailWe compared all of the different diaper pails, and this is the one we decided on. So far it seems to work really well! No smell and easy to use and change out.

Safety 1st Sleepy Baby Nail Clipper: I was so so scared to cut Gracie's nails, but these clippers made it so much easier. They have a light that enables you to see the fingernail much better. This would also be a good baby shower gift!

Old Navy Footed One-Piece: These sleepers are by far my favorite pajamas for Gracie. I love that they are buttoned (we can slip on her owlet monitor without waking her), and they have folds that go over her hands. They are soft and comfortable and fit Gracie great! She basically only wears these to sleep in (under her SleepSack).

Gerber Cloth Diapers: We use these daily as Gracie's burp cloths. They are cheaper then all of the fancy burp cloths, and they are way more absorbent. Just go ahead and get about 50, because I promise you will go through them! We actually got some at our shower and then ended up ordering even more!

Burts Bees Baby Nourishing Lotion: This is the best smelling baby lotion ever! It is my favorite out of all we have tried. I also love that it is full of natural ingredients. I even use it sometimes. The grandparents have even bought this for their houses.

HALO Bassinet Swivel Sleeper: We actually do not own this bassinet, but I am kicking myself for not getting it. It would have made breastfeeding at night SOOO much easier. It swivels up and down and side to side so it can be the same level as your bed, and can actually swing over your bed. The side also easily pushes down so that you can get baby out without getting out of bed. I was very sore for 6+ weeks after having Gracie due to some complications, so getting in and out of bed was VERY painful for me (thank goodness my mama was there for over a month helping me!) In my opinion, anything that can make breastfeeding the slightest bit better is worth the money. It was hands down the hardest thing I have ever done (post to come on that later). Just trust me and get yourself one of these if you plan to breastfeed. (Also nursing tanks to sleep in while your at it!)

Freshly Picked Moccasins: Seriously so adorable!! I need them in every color. Comfortable and stay on! Kind of on the pricey side, but they have a good resale value.

I hope this helps you out if you are pregnant and planning for a little one, just had a little one, or just shopping for a baby shower!
